Trata-se de um romance histórico - e um policial - que decorre em Varsóvia em 1940-41. A editora do livro é Oceanos (LEYA). Outra boa nova: a curta-metragem que escrevi - O ESPELHO LENTO - acabou de ganhar o prémio de Melhor Drama no Festival de Curtas-Metragens de Nova Iorque.

Eis a noticia do Diário de Noticias sobre a minha curta-metragem e o prémio que recebi em Nova Iorque: Espelho lento» de Solveig Nordlund premiado em Nova Iorque.
O filme "O espelho lento", de Solveig Nordlund, venceu o prémio de melhor drama no sexto festival de curtas-metragens Downtown de Nova Iorque, anunciou hoje o Instituto do Cinema e Audiovisual. "O espelho lento" é baseado num conto do escritor Richard Zimler, publicado em 2008, e é protagonizado por Gracinda Nave, Marta Peneda, Rui Morisson, Joana Bárcia, Custódia Gallego, entre outros. "O espelho lento" conta a história de Carla e a sua filha, que está gravemente doente. De visita a Barcelona, Carla descobre um espelho que em vez de devolver o reflexo, guarda-o por vários anos. Carla "traz o espelho para Lisboa como uma prenda para a sua filha e isso vai transformar a vida delas de forma misteriosa", explica a produtora Ambar Filmes. Solveig Nordlund, realizadora sueca há muito radicada em Portugal, conta ainda na sua filmografia "Aparelho voador a baixa altitude" (2002), "A filha" (2003), ou "Escrever, escrever, viver" (2009), documentário sobre António Lobo Antunes.
"O espelho lento", conto retirado da coletânea "Confundir a cidade com o mar", é o primeiro texto de Richard Zimler adaptado para cinema.
"Os Anagramas de Varsóvia" estava na lista dos bestsellers de FNAC, Bertrand, El Corte Ingles e das Livrarias Leitura,durante dois meses. Já vendemos os direitos em Inglaterra, Brasil, Servia, Italia e Polonia. O livro sairá em Inglaterra em Janeiro de 2011.

O meu romance "Goa ou o Guardião de Aurora" acabou de ganhar o "Prix Benveniste" na França. O prémio é para livros de tematica judaica. A ceremonia foi no dia 26 de Janeiro em Paris. Foi maravilhosa - estava 300 pessoas na audiência.

An anthology of short stories about childhood that I edited for Save the Children was published in May of 2009! It is called The Children’s Hours and all royalties are going directly to Save the Children. It includes stories by Nadine Gordimer, Margaret Atwood, David Almond, Markus Zusak, Junot Díaz, Meg Rosoff, André Brink, David Liss and many other world-famous, bestselling authors. On a more personal note, I also want to mention that my mother, Ruth G. Zimler, suffered a major stroke in August of 2006 and died on September 21, 2006 I spent most of last September in New York making sure she got the best possible treatment and was allowed to die peacefully. "The Seventh Gate" is my first novel that she didn't have the chance to read in manuscript. I'm sad about that, but I'm very grateful that she was able to give me feedback about all my other books and stories. I always listened closely to what she had to say about my books, both good and bad. "The Seventh Gate" is dedicated to her.
